TamaNet rolls are the only ones in the industry manufactured to a guaranteed length. 

All production machines operate with checked and verified calibrated metering systems. Roll length is regularly measured and checked on a roll ‘unwinding unit, to verify the accuracy of the metering equipment. All Tama Netwrap complies with the German DLG standard as well as the American ASABE standard.

The thicker FRANZE tapes carry all the strength of the netwrap

The thinner SCHUSS tapes do not support the pressure of the bale

The SCHUSS tape only connects the FRANZE tapes together

The strength of Netwrap relies on the thicker Franze tapes in the ‘Machine Direction,’ bearing the bale’s expansion pressure.

Thinner schuss cross tapes, on the other hand, maintain the spacing of the Franze tapes but do not support the bale’s expansion pressure. Removing these thinner tapes won’t compromise the bale’s integrity.

The weight of Netwrap per meter (g/m) doesn’t dictate its strength. Advanced polymers used in manufacturing can ensure similar or superior strength while reducing the amount of plastic. This innovation allows for lighter rolls without sacrificing strength or length.

Tama’s new technology Netwrap is both lighter and stronger, wound onto smaller rolls for improved handling.

It is important that the bale comes out of the baler immediately that the tailgate is opened, to avoid any damage to the Netwrap on the bale surface caused by the spinning rollers in the chamber.

This is a common problem with any baler that has rollers in the bale chamber and on ALL types of Netwrap.

To prevent damage to the Netwrap on the bale surface, it’s crucial for the bale to exit the baler as soon as the tailgate opens. Delaying this process can cause damage from the spinning rollers within the chamber. This issue is common among balers equipped with chamber rollers and affects all types of Netwrap.
Cause:

• Bale is too big and dense, and is stuck in the baler
• Bale is not able to turn easily because the chamber side walls are not shiny enough
• Baler is not at the correct angle relative to the tractor, and the bale cannot eject easily

Solutions:

• Lower the RPM or disengage the PTO on the baler to minimize roller friction against the bale surface
• Ensure proper alignment between the baler and the tractor for easier bale release

Net application
It is important that the Netwrap is only applied on the outer surface of the bale. If the crop is still being picked up as the Netwrap begins feeding into the baler, some of the Netwrap will be inside the bale and not on the surface.

If some of the Netwrap is on the inside of the bale, it will create numerous problems:

• Bale diameter will increase
• Netwrap may become damaged when bale is ejected
• Bale will not be secured fully as Netwrap is not holding the bale fully
• With fewer layers of Netwrap on the bale surface, the Netwrap may not be able to withhold the bale pressure and cause bales to burst open

Ensuring the right amount of Netwrap on a bale is crucial. It can vary based on:

• Type of Crop: Different crops need different amounts of Netwrap
• Bale Size: The diameter of the bale matters
• How You Handle Bales: The method you use to handle them
• How Often Bales Are Handled: The number of times they’re moved around

It’s important to match the number of Netwrap wraps set in the tractor cab with the actual number on the bale. Sometimes, what’s programmed doesn’t match what’s on the bale.

For the best baling, it’s suggested to follow these recommendations:

• Silage Bales (1.2m Diameter): At least 2.5 full wraps.
• Hay Bales (1.5m Diameter): At least 3.5 full wraps.
• Straw Bales (1.8 – 2.0m Diameter): At least 4.0 full wraps.

Consider adding extra wrap in these circumstances:

When dealing with tough conditions like high density settings, very dry crops, or extreme temperatures, it’s smart to add an extra wrap. Several tough conditions together might need even more wraps.

The above suggestions act as a guide. If using standard Netwrap, adding an extra wrap is likely necessary to secure the bale properly.

Before and during baling, always remember:

1. Ensure the cardboard core ends move freely in the net box.
2. Check and clean any spots in the baler that might catch and tear the net.
3. Load the crop evenly into the bale chamber.
4. Make sure the bale is clear before closing after ejection.
5. Check for any crop between layers of net on the finished bale.

Different crop types exert varying pressure on Netwrap. Dry cereal crops, for instance, exert more pressure compared to grass hay or silage bales. Additionally, larger diameter bales increase the pressure on the net, needing more turns of netting to secure the bale.

For all round balers to work effectively with Netwrap, make sure to take these fundamental steps:

• Feed the Netwrap into the baler correctly
• Tension the Netwrap as the bale gets bound
• Ensure the Netwrap covers the whole width of the bale
• Trim the Netwrap at the end of the binding cycle

Many balers use rubber and steel rollers with adjustable settings on both sides. It’s crucial that both sides are set equally to ensure consistent and proper feeding pressure between the rollers.

Checking the Feeding Mechanism
Here’s an easy way to check if the rollers are adjusted correctly and aligned parallelly:

1. Put a single sheet of paper between the rollers and turn them to pull the paper through.
2. If the rollers grip tightly, pulling the paper out will gradually turn the rollers.
3. Repeat this across the roller’s width to ensure the pulling tension is the same everywhere.
4. If one side allows the paper to pull out more easily than the other, adjust the rollers accordingly. This helps maintain consistent feeding pressure across the entire width.

Every baler needs to apply proper tension to the Netwrap while feeding it. This ensures that the Netwrap:

• Spreads evenly on the bale
• Grips firmly onto the bale
• Allows the cutting mechanism to cleanly cut the Netwrap after binding

It’s crucial that the braking system is correctly set and functional. This ensures consistent and complete tension across the entire width of the Netwrap.

Types of Tension Systems
Depending on the baler type and model, the Tension System might include:

1. Spring-tensioned metal bar pressing onto the Netwrap roll surface (e.g., Claas, McHale)
2. Braking mechanism against the Feeding Rollers (e.g., John Deere)
3. Disc brake and brake pad gripping inside the cardboard core of the Netwrap roll (e.g., Case IH, Krone, New Holland, Welger)

Checking and Adjusting the Tension Systems
For each type of system, here are key checks to perform:

1. Spring tension brake bar (e.g., Claas, McHale)
   Ensure the tension brake bar is flat and in contact with the entire width of the Netwrap roll.
2. Braking mechanism connected to feeding rollers (e.g., John Deere)
   Increase brake tension by adding more shims behind the fixing plate. Also, ensure uniform adjustment of the feeding rollers (refer to the Feeding System section).
3. Disc brake and brake pad (e.g., Krone, CNH)
   Check that the brake pad isn’t worn out for efficient braking. On a Krone baler, ensure the Netwrap brake arm is correctly positioned and adjusted according to the operator’s manual.

Various issues can arise when using Netwrap, often stemming from baling conditions, crop specifics, or incorrect baler adjustments.
Check out these common problems and our recommended solutions:

1. Net not feeding

• Ensure feed rollers are properly adjusted and uniformly set
• Verify correct Netwrap brake tension
• Check for any jammed Netwrap rolls in the net box, ensuring the core is dry and undamaged

2. Net wrapping on feed rollers

• Address long tails of net wrapping on rollers, potentially caused by a bad cut from the previous bale or dirty/damaged feed rollers

3. Net not spreading

• Verify appropriate Netwrap brake tension and ensure no obstructions are blocking the net’s path
• Address long tails of net from the previous bale that may be pulling in the net from the edge

4. Bales bursting

• Ensure sufficient Netwrap on the bale’s surface, avoiding Netwrap inside the bale
• Prevent damage to the net on the bale’s surface by ensuring the bale ejects quickly and avoiding damage to the tailgate or kicker bar
• Avoid spreading the Netwrap too wide on the bale, preventing it from going over the edge and damaging the Franze tapes
